Rejoice and Be Merry with the JCS this Christmas!
What better way to get your festive season off to a musical start than by joining the JCS at one of our Christmas concerts this year?
We will be giving three performances in under a week, starting with our own concert Rejoice and Be Merry! on 6th December at the Grosvenor Chapel in Mayfair. We are delighted that Brian Kay, the distinguished music broadcaster and one of the original Kings Singers – as well as being honorary president of the JCS – will be joining us to introduce the evening and narrate a selection of seasonal readings amongst the musical offerings. JCS will be performing its seasonal a capella programme and will be accompanied by organist Michael Higgins as we join our audience in singing traditional Christmas carols. We are also looking forward to working again with recorder player James Risdon, not only to hear his virtuoso playing but also to continue our partnership with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) in which blind and partially sighted musicians are selected each season to appear as guest artists in JCS concerts.
The following evening, 7th December, we are again at the Grosvenor Chapel. this time at the invitation of Good Housekeeping magazine. As well as James Risdon and Michael Higgins, we shall be joined by soprano Lucy Cronin to supply the musical offerings in the GH annual Carol Concert – expect some celebrity readers to contribute too! This event always draws a capacity audience – we like to think we provide the musical equivalent of the ‘goodie bag’ that the GH guests receive at the end of the evening!
We finish the week of festive flourishes by departing the glittering streets of Mayfair for the rural charms of Buckinghamshire where we will be performing on 10th December, joining local singing groups at King’s Church for the Amersham Music Centre’s annual Christmas performance.
Details of the venues and how to get tickets for these events can be found on our Performances page.
Do join us for a Joyful Christmas!
