A Joyful Gala!
Sharing some photos of the JCS performing in Cadogan Hall on 16 October to celebrate the 75th birthday year of our founder conductor Peter Broadbent and his award of an MBE in the 2022 New Year’s Honours.
The first part of the programme included a world premiere – our commission to our first-ever Composer-in-Association, Zoe Dixon, who joined us on the evening, as did Finnish composer Jaakko Mäntyjärvi to hear us perform his moving ‘Canticum Calamitatis Maritimae’.
Current JCS singers were joined by former members of the choir in the second part of the concert to sing the ‘Messe pour Double Choeur’ by Frank Martin and movements from Francis Poulenc’s ‘Figure Humaine’.
Congratulations Peter – and here’s to many more years of Joyfully Singing together!
